Nation Pays Tribute to Indira Gandhi's 98th Birth Anniversary

New Delhi,November 19: President Pranab Mukherjee and Vice President Hamid Ansari today paid their tributes to India's first woman prime minister Indira Gandhi on her 98th birth anniversary at the Shakti Sthal.

Congress president Sonia Gandhi, party leader Rahul Gandhi, former prime minister Manmohan Singh and other party leaders paid their floral tributes at the late leader's memorial here.

"Tributes to Indira ji on her birth anniversary," PM Narendra Modi tweeted.

Indira Gandhi fell to assassins' bullets on 31st October, 1984 at her 1, Safdarjung Road residence in New Delhi.

She was killed by her Sikh bodyguards more than four months after Operation Blue Star, which was launched on the Golden Temple in Amritsar.
