Two more farmers ends life within 24hrs

Rourkela,November 20: Two more farmers today has died due to his crop loss as well as the debt-crisis in Dhenkanal and Rourkela. 

The incident took place during the time of 'chasi samavesh' at Sohela where chief minister Naveen Patnaik had announced various benefits for the farmers.
 
Diganta Das of Raitala village under Gondia block in Dhenkanal, who consumed poison on Thursday night, died at the district hospital while undergoing treatment.

According to family sources, Diganta had taken up paddy cultivation on five acres of land after borrowing loan from the local moneylenders. 

But later, the crop was damaged due to scanty rainfall. Unable to bear with the loss, Diganta took this extreme step. He was under a debt of Rs5 lakh.

Similarly, another farmer, identified as Satana Ekka, from Koparanda village under Bisra block in Rourkela ended life by hanging himself from a tree on his farm. This is the first farmer suicide case reported from the district.
