Foreigner woman looted from train in Rourkela

Bhubnaeswar,November 23: A 23 year-old foreigner woman has been looted near Rourkela while travelling in a train to Jharsuguda, Odisha.

The victim Irene Howda, a Greek national travelling from Howdah in Azad Hind Express to Jharsuguda to attend the wedding ceremony of her friend Dr Jitesh Sharma, when she was looted of valuables worth more than Rs one lakh from her 2nd AC compartment, on Sunday.

When the train was near Rourkela, during early morning yesterday, some miscreant entered the bogie and made off with her costly luggage from the train. Irene has complained that from her 2nd AC compartment, her passport, 2 mobile phones, tablet, camera, debit card, Indian and foreign currencies, and other articles amounting to around Rs 1 lakh have been stolen from her.

Irene travelled again back to Rourkela accompanied by her friend's father Dr Devashlok Mishra and lodged a complaint in the police station there. Railway police has registered a case and has started investigating the theft.
