Odisha cabinate signs 23 new projects

Bhubaneswar:26; The Odisha Cabinet approved 23 proposals during its meeting held at the State Secretariat under chairmanship of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik here on Thursday.

A proposal on enactment of ant-defection law for panchayat and ULB representatives was approved by the Cabinet.

Besides, the meeting gave its nod to a proposal on allotment of land without any charges for setting up of the second campus of NIRTAR in Balangir district. It also approved allotment of 3.55 acre for establishment of STPI in Rourkela.

A proposal on issuance of identity cards to all servitors of Sri Jagannath temple in Puri also received the go-ahead from the State Cabinet. The meeting decided to impose restrictions during the Paramanik Darshan at the temple.

Further, the Cabinet approved a proposal from the Irrigation department for setting up of three mega projects, which are aimed to be completed within 30 months.

The Cabinet also cleared a proposal regarding changes in the District Planning Committee. As per the proposal, a woman will hold the committee's chairman or deputy chairman post. Similarly, a minister or MLA will be the chairman of the committee.

The district planning panel will have 80% elected members of which 50% will be reserved for women, the proposal added.

Two proposals from Health department were also approved.
