Bhubaneswar: Nov27; The Commissionerate Police on Friday caught Akash Behera, who was on the run after allegedly slitting the throat a five-year-old boy at Durgamandap slum in Satyanagar area on Thursday afternoon, from Vani Vihar railway station.
The arrested person, Akash Behera, is a Plus II Science student and neighbour to the victim. He had fled the spot after committing the crime.
Sources said Behera took away the five-year-old boy while playing with friends near his home and slitted the throat.
The boy, who was rescued in a critical condition, was initially rushed to the Capital Hospital. As his condition deteriorated, he was shifted to the Sishu Bhawan in Cuttack.
Sources at police said the reason behind the crime can be ascertained after questioning of Behera.
