Hyderabad; Nov. 28: YSR Congress MP Mithun Reddy was booked on Friday for allegedly slapping an Air India official at the Tirupati Airport after the latter refused to accept the MP and his relatives on the flight for which boarding had been closed. Reddy, however, denied the charge and has instead accused the Air India official of misbehaving with him.
Lok Sabha MP P Mithun Reddy went to the cabin of AI manager at the airport Rajasekhar on Thursday afternoon and picked up an argument with him regarding boarding passes for his relatives for a flight.
He later shouted at the manager before allegedly slapping him, Yerpedu police station sub-inspector Ramakrishnaiah said based on a complaint lodged by the victim.
Following the complaint, a case was registered on Thursday night against the MP along with his 15 other followers under sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) and 448 (house-trespass) of IPC, he said.
However, no arrests have been made. Police said they were investigating.
Some passengers, who were to board the flight, had also complained to the MP that the manager had allegedly misbehaved with them, after which Reddy went to Rajasekhar's cabin.
Mithun Reddy represents Rajampet constituency in Kadapa district of the state.
