800 Docs Training For Diabetes From Dec 12

Bhubaneswar:Nov 29;Around 800 doctors from across the State and outside would be imparted training by international-level diabetes specialists at a two-day workshop to be held here from December 12.

About 30 international diabetes specialists, including Dr CB Sanjebi from Sweden and Prof Ashok Kumar Das from Pondicherry, will provide training at the workshop, to be organised by the Kanungo Institute of Diabetes Specialities (KIDS).  "Diabetes has come out as a major health issue in the country. At the same time, there is acute shortage of specialist for the disease. Hence, it has become challenging for both Government and non-Government doctors to provide service to around seven crore patients," said KIDS MD Dr Alok Kanungo at a Press meet here on Friday.

The national workshop is aimed at creating a niche of skilled diabetes specialists, he added. Besides, a registration programme of patients would be inaugurated on the occasion, said Dr SK Sen. Among others, Dr KC Behera and Dr Jayanta Panda were present.
