Modi Meets Sharif At CoP 21 In Paris

Paris; Nov.30: The prime ministers of Pakistan and India met in what appeared to be a chance encounter on Monday as world leaders converged for the inauguration of the UN Conference of Parties (CoP) 21 climate summit in Paris.

Video footage and photographs showed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi shaking hands and exchanging pleasantries before they sat down on the same sofa for a brief discussion.

"PM @narendramodi meets PM Nawaz Sharif at COP 21 in Paris," Indian External Affairs Ministry spokesman Vikas Swarup tweeted along with a picture of the two leaders shaking hands.

World leaders are all set to begin their round of talks on Monday with the objective of achieving an elusive agreement to counter global warming, which has reached calamitous levels.

During the conference, India's 25-member delegation will focus on Prime Minister Modi's call for 'Climate Justice' that he had made in his address at the United Nations General Assembly last month.
