Odisha Assembly Adjoruned Till 10:30 am Tomorrow After Opposition Walk Out

Bhubaneswar; Dec.1: The Odisha Legislative Assembly witnessed pandemonium during the very first hour of the first day of the Winter Session on Tuesday as members of both opposition parties, Congress and BJP, created ruckus demanding discussion on a move on farmer suicides.

Soon after the House assembled, rich tributes were paid to departed souls of Chandrasekhar Pradhan, Rabindra Kumar Das, Rajkishore Pradhan and Bidhubhushan Praharaj followed by a one-minute silent prayer as per the tradition.

Congress and BJP legislators paid homage to the departed souls of farmers and expressed condolence to the bereaved families. Later, Leader of Opposition Narasingh Mishra requested the Speaker to cancel the question hour and allow the House to discuss the farmers' death.

But the Speaker said he has received the written motion and is examining it. He then called questioner's name for starting Question Hour Session.

Reacting to this, Congress and BJP members rushed into the well of the House raising anti-government slogans.

On the other hand, BJP has moved adjournemtn motion on irregularities in distribution of ration card under National Food Security Act (NFSA).

Finance minister Pradeep Amat will present the supplementary budget in the afternoon.
