Block grant lecturers, staff 's rally on Dec 17

Bhubaneswar, Dec 8: Demanding abolition of the block grant system and making provision for full grant-in-aid to all such colleges, Lecturers and staff of the 488 Category Aided colleges of the State will take out a rally on December 17.

The lecturers' body has also threatened not to allow conduct of any examinations at their colleges.

In a press conference here, president of the 488-category aided block grant lecturers and employee coordination committee Pabitra Mahala said, "As many as 10,000 lecturers and staff will take out a rally in the capital city demanding abolition of the block grant system."

"Though the State government has not made any provision for us in the budget, we request the government to allocate Rs 100 crore in the supplementary budget for the betterment of higher education system in the state," Mahala added.
