Farmers suicide not due to crop loss or debt burden: Pradeep Maharathy

Bhubaneswar, Dec 10: Agriculture Minister Pradeep Kumar Maharathy informed in the state assembly that the probe revealed that the farmers suicide were mostly due to personal, domestic, health related and other reasons, but not due to crop loss or debt burden. Minister Maharathy said this in the Assembly while replying to a question.

 Maharathy said the farmer suicide incidents have no link to agricultural crisis due to drought. He also said that the State Government has no plan to conduct any special probe into deaths of farmers . The Minister said the State Government has already announced a package for the drought-hit farmers.
