Massive explosion, gunshots rock central Kabul:Afghanistan

Kabul: Dec 11;A massive explosion struck central Kabul during rush hour on Friday evening, followed by bursts of gunfire, according to AFP reporters, but there were no immediate reports of any casualties.

The blast occurred in the city's affluent Sherpur area, said Kabul police spokesperson Basir Mujahid, but he could not offer any other information.

Reports suggested that at least three insurgents were involved in the attack, Afghan police said.

One official said the explosion was close to a guest house attached to the Spanish embassy. More details are awaited.
