Dawn-To-Dusk Bandh Begins In Dhenkanal For Establishment Of Vigilance Court

Dhenkanal; Dec.12: The one-day dawn-to-dusk bandh called by Dhenkanal District Lawyers' Association started in the town. The lawyers have been demanding establishment of a vigilance court in the district and appointment of judges.

Normal life came to a standstill in the town as activists of lawyers' body blocked roads at many places bringing vehicular movement to a grinding halt. All educational institutes, private organisations and business establishments remained closed.

Rail communication was also hit due to the agitation. Many heavy vehicles stayed off the road near the by-pass due to the protest of the activists.

However, emergency services remained operational as the protesters spared the services from the shutdown.

Adequate police forces have been deployed at different places of the district to avoid any untoward incident.

The bandh was supported by all political parties, puja committees and other organisations in the district.
