Appropriation Bill-2015 Passed In Odisha Assembly

Bhubaneswar: Dec 12 ; The Odisha Assembly on Friday passed the Appropriation Bill-2015 giving approval to the State government to spend Rs 11,448 crore as supplementary budget even as Opposition Congress criticized the bill stating that government had failed on all fronts thereby losing every right to spend people's money.

Leader of Opposition Narasingh Mishra said that he does not support the Bill.

"There is a planning paralysis in the government," Mishra burst, elaborating that teachers, students, farmers, Dalits, tribals, women and others are agitating against the state government's policies.

The Leader of Opposition also added that the state is heading towards a financial crisis as different departments often say there are no funds for development works.

The State government is going to bear an additional fiscal burden of Rs 7665 crore due to reduction of central funds, Amat said, adding that State share in Central tax has been hiked by 10 percent which would result in an outgo of Rs 1776 crore from the State exchequer.
