Odisha Realtor Arrested Of Duping Man Of Rs 22 Lakh

Bhubaneswar; Dec.18: The Commissionerate Police arrested a realtor On Friday for allegedly duping a person of Rs 22 lakh after promising him a land in the State capital.

The police said the accused, Shibani Builders Managing Director Ratikant Kanungo, had been arrested for cheating a customer. A case was filed against him at the Saheed Nagar police station. Acting on the complaint, the police arrested the builder from his house in Chintamaniswar area under Laxmisagar police station.

According to sources, Kanungo had taken Rs 22 lakh in phases from a customer and promised him to provide land in the State capital.

Police sources said the accused neither handed over land to the man nor returned money.

The accused was earlier arrested by CBI on charges of gold loan fraud. He had taken a loan of more than Rs 1 crore from Odisha Gramya Bank by mortgaging countefeit ornaments.
