Keonjhar Farmer couple End Lives Due To Crop Loss, Debt Burden

Keonjhar; Dec.18: Unable to bear crop loss and massive debt burden a farmer couple on Friday died after consuming Oleander flower seeds in Keonjhar district.

The deceased farmer identified as Pagala Patra and his wife Gunjana Patra, resident of Kainipur village under Ghasipura police station in Anandpur sub-division of Keonjhar district. 

Sources said they were admitted in a critical condition on Thursday after they consumed Oleander flower seeds.

Notably, two farmers had also ended their lives yesterday by consuming pesticides due to the same reason in Kalahandi and Bolangir.

Nearly 160 farmers have committed suicide in last three months due to crop loss and debt burden.
