Bhubaneswar:Dec 18; Renowned novelist and columnist Bibhuti Patnaik would receive the prestigious Kendra Sahitya Akademi Award for 2015 for his collection of short stories 'Mahisashura ra Munha'. The Kendra Sahitya Akademi announced it on Thursday.
"I got the award at a time when my writer friends are returning awards protesting growing intolerance. The book Mahisasurara Munha for which I was nominated for the prestigious award also depicts intolerance," said Patnaik.
Patnaik has written more than 150 books and got many awards including the Odisha Sahitya Academy in 1985 and Sarala Award in 1999.
Patnaik was born on October 25, 1937 in Dingeswar village in Jagatsinghpur district. He joined as an Odia lecturer in 1970 and retired as a Reader in 1995.
He was famous for his book Premika, novels Abhiman, Achinha Akash, Akasha Kusuma, Badhu Nirupama and many more.
