5 medical colleges to be completed by 2017

Bhubaneswar: Dec 21; There will be no shortage of doctors in the near future as five medical colleges are being established and work is in full swing, said Health Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak.

Construction work of the new medical colleges has been expedited and it will be completed by 2017. The colleges are coming up at Balasore, Baripada,Bolangir, Koraput and Puri.

He admitted that shortage of doctors has plagued health care service in the state since long.The minister was here On Saturday to launch the state-level Mass Drug administration for eradication of fileria disease at Abhinandan Garden. Addressing the gathering minister urged people and health service providers and authorities to make Fileria eradication programme successful in all districts.

Nayak announced that chief minister has held meeting recently and state govt has decided to provide free medicine and therapy treatment to all patients affected by cancer . Speaking on IMR and MMR, Minister disclosed that the state government has made budgetary allocation of Rs.50 crores to reduce IMR and MMR and strategies are evolved accordingly.
