Kui Samaj Gives Kandhamal 'Bandh Call' On Christmas Day

Bhubaneswar; Dec.24: The Kui Samaj Samanwaya Samiti (KSSS) has called for a bandh in Kandhamal district on the Christmas day on Friday to protest non-fulfilment of its 34-point charter of demands.

A meeting was held between the Kui Samaj and the district administration in the presence of the district Collector, SP, Baliguda Tehsildar on Tuesday. However, the meeting was not fruitful as the district administration didn't give any assurance to fulfil the demands. Hence, the tribal body is forced to take this extreme step, said KSSS secretary Lambodar Kanhar.

"Every year, when Christmas comes the administration becomes active but remains silent after that. We don't want any disturbance but they have compelled us to take such step. Our motive is to get justice for our community and not to hamper anyone," he added.
