BJD To Continue Fight Against Central Negligence: Naveen

Bhubaneswar; Dec.27: Addressing party workers at a function organised on Saturday here to celebrate the 18th foundation day party supremo and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced, "Biju Janata Dal will continue its fight against the negligence of the state by successive central governments."

Stating that Odisha has been a victim of natural calamities, the BJD supremo said the farmers of the state have incurred massive loss in this year's drought.

"Considering their plight, the BJD government has announced a special package for the drought-hit farmers which are being implemented. Apart from this, my government has made a provision of loan assistance to the tune of Rs 10,000 crore for the farmers for the ensuing rabi crop," he pointed out.

On the occasion, the chief minister announced that the state government is going to celebrate the birth centenary of former chief minister Biju Patnaik.

"We would befittingly celebrate the event in rural areas and in Bhubaneswar. Apart from this, we will also celebrate the event in Delhi and in the international level. We will start preparation to celebrate the 100-year formation of Odisha as a separate province during the birth centenary year of Biju Babu from next year and prepare a vision document "Odisha at 100" to ensure holistic development of the state by 2036. An advanced and empowered Odisha is our objective", he added.

Launching a broadside against the Opposition, the chief minister said his party always believes in fulfilment of its promises. "Our work is not limited to the Opposition who has the habit of shedding crocodile tears," he observed.

Asserting that his government always believes in work, Patnaik called upon his party workers to put up a concerted effort to ensure that the beneficiaries get the benefits of various welfare programmes which are currently under implementation.
