India wins over Afghanistan in SAFF Cup

Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 4: India on Sunday defeated defending champions Afghanistan 2-1 in the summit clash to lift the South Asian Football Federation Cup(SAFF) for the seventh time here.

Jeje Lalpekhlua and Sunil Chhetri scored a goal each as India defeated Afghanistan.

India captain Chhetri rose to the challenge as he scored the winner in the 10th minute of the extra-time to give India a revenge of their 2013 final loss to Afghanistan.
