Visitors' Entry Restricted For A Week In Biju Patnaik Int'l Airport

Bhubaneswar; Jan.5: As a precautionary measure after the terrorists' attack on the Punjab's Pathankot air base, the Biju Patnaik International Airport authorities  on Monday banned the entry of visitors for the next 7 days.

"Barring passengers, we have stopped the entry of the visitors to the airport for a week. We have taken this step as per the directive of the Airport Authority of India (AAI). The entry of the visitors has been stopped in all airports in the country in the wake of the Pathankot air base attack," Sharad Kumar, director of Biju Patnaik International Airport told the media on Monday.

He also said the airport authorities have also intensified security measures."The CISF personnel deployed in the airport are ready to face any untoward incident. Besides, we are in regular touch with the State Police," he added.

According to the instructions, only staff and passengers will be allowed to enter, and ticketed entry by visitors will be restricted for next seven days even though security has been lifted around the airport.
