Mumbai; Jan.5: Sachin Tendulkar, who has almost the batting records in international cricket, has congratulated Pranav Dhanawade, who scored a record 1000 runs in a school cricket match on Tuesday
The batting maestro said in a tweet: "Congrats #PranavDhanawade on being the first ever to score 1000 runs in an innings. Well done and work hard. You need to scale new peaks."
Playing for KC Gandhi School, Kalyan, Pranav, son of a auto driver, smashed 1009 not out off 323 balls. It included 129 fours and 59 sixes.
Tendulkar has fond memories of Mumbai's school cricket. In 1988, he and Vinod Kambli featured in a record 664-run partnership for Shardashram Vidyamandir School.
Tendulkar was the first batsman to score a double hundred in ODI cricket. Words of encouragement from the Little Master will come as the best New Year gift for Pranav.
Pranav was unbeaten on 652 on Monday. He had gone past Arthur Collins who made 628 back in 1899 in a Junior House Match in England.
On the heels of Tendulkar's tweet, offspinner Harbhajan Singh, who has been selected in the Twenty20 series against Australia, also tweeted: "well played...no matter what levels cricket it is but numbers are just unbelievable.another @sachin_rt in making?"
