MCL Crosses 100-MT Production Mark

Sambalpur, Jan 8: The Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) on Thursday crossed the 100-million tonne coal production milestone in a record 281 days during the current financial year 2015-16.

Working hours on January 6 ended with the MCL registering 100.03-MT coal output, said a company Press release.

The company, on December 28, 2015, had crossed 100-MT dispatch of coal to its various consumers, primarily the power producers across the country.  The MCL, which had produced 121 MT coal during last financial year 2014-15, has consolidated all its efforts to achieve the 150-MT production target in the current fiscal.

The MCL, the Coal India Limited's leading subsidiary operating in Odisha, which was formed in year 1992 with a mere 23-MT production, has consistently grown to become the leading coal producing company in the country.
