Shah Rukh and Aamir Khan's security downgraded by Mumbai Police

Mumbai, Jan 8: The Mumbai Police has downgraded the security of around 40 Bollywood celebrities after an annual assessment of threat perception. Actors Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan and producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra are among those whose security has been downgraded.

Reports say that the security given to 25 celebrities has also been withdrawn.
The Mumbai Police has said that there was nothing new in the move as it was a routine practice to analyse threat perception and review the security given to celebrities.

Shah Rukh and Aamir Khan were provided additional security in the light of their comments on the intolerance debate. After the assessement review, two armed constables will accompany the actors in two shifts.

Akhshay Kumar, Mahesh Bhatt, Mukesh Bhatt will remain under Mumbai police cover because they have received death threats and extortion calls from underworld.

Lata Mangeshkar, Dilip Kumar, and Amitabh Bachchan will be provided round-the-clock security and a police escort because of their status as iconic figures
