CM Asks Top Cops To Visit Districts Every Month

Bhubaneswar: Jan 9; Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday asked the senior police officials to make field visits regularly to assess the performances of the police and cautioned the officers that he would review the outcome of their visits.

"Like senior IAS officers, senior police officers will have to make district visit during the first week of every month regularly. Besides, inspecting Police Stations you must visit some of the complainants and assess the performance," said Patnaik.

Patnaik, while addressing the valedictory session of the two-day annual Senior Police Conference here, also asked the officials to be prepared for urban terrorism, attack on vital establishments and coastal infiltration.

"We have to strengthen our institutional set-ups and response mechanisms so that timely preventive action," said Patnaik.

Patnaik asked the SPs to personally monitor the progress of investigation in case of sensitive cases of crime against women and children.

He also warned disciplinary proceedings against officials for poor investigation and prosecution.

Chief Secretary AP Padhi, Hone Secretary Asit Tripathy, DGP KB Singh, Twin City Commissioner of Police RP Sharma, almost all IGs, range DIGs and district SPs attended the conference.
