13 Die Every Day In State In Road Accidents

Bhubaneswar: Jan 9; Around 13 persons in the State die in road accidents everyday while 52 suffer from permanent disability, said city Mayor Ananta Narayan Jena inaugurating the Road Safety Awareness Campaign through auto-rickshaw snickering at the Driving Test Track here on Friday.

He further said that around 27,000 autos are playing in the capital city. He later stressed on identification of land for parking of the autos. The Transport Secretary proposed that a technical team should go to Indore and acquire skills for traffic zoning in Bhubaneswar.

Khordha Collector Niranjan Sahu, MLA Priyadarshi Mishra, SP Jatin Panda,Corporator Preetinanda Routray spoke on the road safety and lauded the initiative of road safety awareness campaign through auto-rickshaw snickering to combat road accidents.

The Road Safety Week will be observed from January 10 to 16. The guests called upon the citizens to be aware of and follow all traffic rules to avoid road mishaps. RTO officers Sanjay Behera and Lalmohan Sethy were present, among others.
