BJP postpones party election in Jagatsinghpur

Bhubaneswar: Wary of possible factionalism in the party ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's two-day visit to the state on February 6 and 7, BJP has decided to postpone its organizational election in Jagatsinghpur.

BJP, which has divided the state into 36 organizational districts, released the names of 30 district presidents on Sunday.

The party is also worried about possible differences among party leaders over the naming of the next state BJP president ahead of Modi's visit.

After inaugurating the refinery project of the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) at Paradip in Jagatsinghpur district on February 6, the PM is scheduled to address a public meeting there. BJP is banking on mobilizing a huge number of people from the coastal districts of Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Balasore, Bhadrak and Cuttack for the meeting.
