BJD candidate Susmita Das wins BMC Ward no-17 bypoll

Bhubaneswar:  BJD candidate Susmita Das won the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) ward no -17 bypoll defeating the Congress candidate by 1661 votes.

Congress candidate got only 383 votes.

"Though I had lost time, I have been working for people and this time with blessing of our chief minister Naveen Patnaik I won the polls. I am thankful and will keep working for the betterment of people," said Das.

It should be noted that out of total 7,667 voters, only 2,243 turned up at the booths. The BJP had not fielded any candidate for the seat.

The counting, which began at around 8.30 am and lasted half an hour, was held at the ADM office in the presence of BMC mayor Ananta Narayan Jena and Bhubaneswar North MLA Priyadarshi Mishra.
