Dattatreya created conditions for Rohith Vemula's suicide: Rahul Gandhi in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Jan 19; Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi visited the University of Hyderabad on Tueday and said that the university VC and a union minister created the situation that made Rohith Vemula, a Dalit scholar studying there, kill himself.

Addressing students at the varsity after speaking to the protesters, Gandhi also that said failure to ensure justice for the research scholar will be an "insult to him, to every student and teacher in this institute".

"This youngster who came here to learn, to develop, to change this country, was left with no option but to kill himself," Gandhi said, adding that "failing to provide him justice will be failing to show him respect".

"I agree with the students here. Rohith committed suicide but the conditions for his suicide were created by the VC and the minister," Rahul Gandhi told students in an address after he met with Rohith's mother.
