Bhubaneswar, Jan 20: Minutes before chief minister Naveen Patnaik flagged off the first Air Odisha flight at Biju Patnaik International Airport, police arrested a director of the private airline in connection with a case relating to marital dispute.
The accused, entrepreneur Trideeb Rout, a resident of Jagatsinghpur district, is one of the three directors of Air Odisha Aviation Private Limited (AOAPL). Police arrested him from the airport just as he was waiting for the CM's arrival along with other company officials.
Police said Rout's estranged wife lodged a complaint against him at Chandrasekhar police station on Monday . She is Rout's second wife. They have been living separately for the past few months. "On Sunday evening, Rout and some of his friends allegedly waylaid her in Chandrasekharpur and threatened her to kill her. Based on her complaint on Monday, we arrested him," said commissioner of police R P Sharma.
