Bubaneswar: Jan 24; An Odia man, Gokulananada (62), who owned and operated the Hari-Om India Market and who was arrested by the Torrance police in the USA for sexual assault and fraud, would get 19 years of jail term if the allegations brought against him are established.
Gokulananda, who hails from Kalapathar in Khordha district, was arrested by the Torrance Police Department on May 13 last year on multiple counts of felony sexual assault by fraud that had occurred in Torrance and Santa Clarita last year, according to reports.
He claimed to be a Swami and also offered fortunetelling, healing and counseling services at his store.
He is alleged to have sexually assaulted female clients under the fraudulent representation that the sexual contacts were part of his spiritual rituals.
He released from a Torrance court on July 15 last on a $100,000-bond pending further court proceedings.
He is expected to appear in court on August 25 for a preliminary hearing.
