Teachers to boycott Plus II evaluation

Agitating college teachers of non-government colleges on Wednesday threatened to boycott Plus-II answer sheets' evaluation to begin from April 4. The teachers have been demanding to withdrawal of block grant system, salary on a par with teachers of government colleges and promotional benefits and increase in retirement age to 62 from 60.

"After the request of higher education minister Pradeep Panigrahy we decided to participate in Plus II examination but once the examination got over the government forgot us," said general secretary of 488 category colleges Atal Bihari Bal.

"If our demands are not fulfilled by April 3 evening, we will not participate in the evaluation of answer sheets and intensify our agitation," he said.

Hundreds of teachers belonging to 488 category, 622 category, members of non-government college associations held a rally on Wednesday and gheraoed the assembly. Panigrahy has urged the teachers to participate in Plus II evaluation.
