The 12th edition of Raahgiri, meant for promotion of non-motorised transport, on April 3 will have a theme of World Health Day that falls on April 7. As a precursor to the world event, Raahgiri will create awareness on various aspects of healthy living, preventive health and mental health.
Bhubaneswar municipal corporation (BMC) sources said Rangoli and 3D art on the importance of the World Health Day will also be organised by various organisations. Through this event, people will be sensitized on mental health as the problems like depression, schizophrenia and stress affect all kind of urban people spanning across all age and economic groups.
City-based voluntary organization, Nirmala Kruti Bikas Trust (NKBT), will come up with Rangoli art to shift people's awareness to better and healthy living and services linked to health sector.
NKBT chief Dillip Patnaik said they will dedicate their rangoli art to mother Teresa, symbol of selfless service to the poor across the world. "Issues like cleft lip surgery and how simple surgical procedures could transform faces of small kids for a better look in future would also be there with the Rangoli art,'' he added.
BMC sources said there will be a drop box at the venue where people can drop their suggestions for better health and selected suggestions will be displayed on social media.
