PNG Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to launch marketing of Odisha Mangoes in Delhi on 14th May

The Mango season  has arrived and for the next months we are going to be soaked in the aroma and flavour of the 'King of Fruits'.

The national capital gets flooded with mangoes from all regions of the country. Alphanso from the Konkon coast is one of the first to arrive, to be soon followed by Bainganpalli from Andhra, Totapuri from Karnataka and Kesar from Gujarat. Langra, Dassheri and Chausa from the northern belt arrive later to sweep the market.

The market becomes crowded.  Odisha has several varieties of delicious mangoes, but so far very little effort has been made to popularize them outside Odisha. As a result, mango growers of Odisha do not get the desired price.

To help the mango farmers of Odisha and to make the consumers of Delhi aware of the delicate sweet taste of Amrapalli, Malika and other mangoes from Odisha, Odisha Forum, in association with SAFAL, has taken the initiative to organize a Mango Festival and launch the marketing of Odisha Mangoes in Delhi. The festival will be held on the  lawns of the Civil Services Officers' Institute (CSOI), Chanakyapuri* on Saturday, the 14th May at 5.30 PM. Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of State for Petroleum & Natural Gas will be the Chief Guest. Dr T.C. Mohapatra, DG, ICAR and Secretary, Agricultural Research as well as Mr. Manoj Ahuja, IAS, Principal Secretary, Agriculture, Government of Odisha will also participate.

The Government of Odisha is supporting this initiative through the Odisha Horticulture Development Society. The event will also be attended by some farmers from Dhenkanal and Mayurbhanj.
