Odisha declares Tiger census report;A total of 40 Royal Bengal tigers in state. Similipal homes to 26 Royal Bengal Tigers; 3 in Karanjia, 2 in Satkosia and 4 in Sunabeda forests.  Census report says 3 Black Tigers in Similipal Reserve Forest.

Of the 26 RBTs in Similipal, 14 are tigress, 9 tigers and 3 cubs. Three melanistic (black) tigers in Similipal, says tiger census report. The estimation finds 318 leopards in Odisha. The State Forests and Environment Departmentís Wildlife wing had used over 20,000 pug impression pads (PIPs) and installed 448 trap cameras to conduct the enumeration between February and April this year.
