Dr. SrikantMohapatra appointed as VC of Odisha State Open University

Dr. SrikantMohapatra has been appointed as Vice Chancellor of Odisha State Open University, Sambalpur. Department of Higher Education, yesterday, published a notification in this regard, appointing Dr. Mohapatra, who earlier served as Officer in Special Duty (OSD) as the VC of Open University. After his appointment, Dr. Mohapatra said that the University will ensure to reach out to the students in remote regions and facilitate their learning at an affordable cost.

Dr. Mohapatra with his vast experience in open and distance learning has previously headed the Regional Services Division from 2012-2015 at the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU). He was also the Regional Director for Odisha, Bihar and Gujarat. In the year 2004 he was awarded IGNOU gold medal for providing the best services to the students by the former President of India, late Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam.

In the field of evaluation of student performance through continuous evaluation and End Semester Examination, he has handled one of the largest examination systems under higher education system anywhere in the world. As Director (RSD) he had managed 67 Regional Centres and 3000 Study Centres of IGNOU established in every part of the country.
