MP Vyapam scam: Apex Court cancels degrees of 634 MBBS students

Based on their own investigation, in 2013, the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board started the process of cancelling admissions of students who had joined the course between 2008 and 2013.

The Apex Court on Monday cancelled degrees of 634 MBBS students in Madhya Pradesh. The admission was conducted under unfair means which has been named as Vyapam scam.

As per their own investigation, in 2013, the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board started the process of cancelling admissions of students who had joined the course between 2008 and 2013.

Read to know the Supreme Court's verdict:

- Justice JS Khehar gave an approval to PEB, to cancel the admissions of 634 students who have used wrong means to reserve a seat for themselves

- Soon after the Vyapam scam, the PEB carried out an internal investigation in 2013 and identified that 634 students who had used unfair means to get admission in the MBBS course

- Most of the students, above 400 have already cleared their MBBS and some of them are still in the course

- During the internal investigation, officials analysed OMR sheets of all candidates who had taken examinations between 2008 and 2013, and identified aspirants who had taken foul means to crack the examination

- "We identified students whose wrong answers were in common with other students, " a PEB official said.
