Online Complaints Redressal Mechanism to be Setup in Engineering Colleges

Around 10,000 engineering colleges across the country will soon have an online complaints redressal mechanism through which students and faculty members can register their complaints and grievances online. For this purpose, All India Council for Technical Education or AICTE has directed all the technical institutions to set up online complaints redressal mechanism for registering and disposing of grievances.
One of the officials of AICTE explained that the HRD Ministry had urged the Council to initiate the idea. The online redressal mechanism will not only solve the issues and grievances of students but also faculty members and other stakeholders. He further explained that the effectiveness of this mechanism would be a significant factor at the time of granting annual approval to an institution.

Anil Sahasrabundh, Chief of AICTE indicated that every technical institute across the country should be able to receive and provide grievances online. As a part of this initiative, all the technical institutes are directed to put a notice or flex board near the office of the Head of the College, explaining about the online grievance system. The notice must consist of URL contact numbers or e-mail IDs of members of the grievance committee.

He further explained that all the technical institutes should inform AICTE regarding the number of grievances received and uploaded every month. A central government’s pg.portal will monitor whether the technical institutes set up grievance redressal mechanism or not. If there is no redressal mechanism in the college, the students can file their grievances in pg.portal of the central government.
