 Odisha infant mortality rate drops below national average. This was informed by the CM Naveen Patnaik. Infant mortality rate in State has come down and is currently below national average since I assumed office says CM Naveen Patnaik  .

He said that while in 2000 IMR in the State was an alarming 96 in every 1000, it has dropped down to 40 in 1000 in 2015-16. He further said that Odisha’s position as compared to other states like Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Assam, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Bihar in this indicator is much better as shown in the National Family Health Survey IV. Officials of Health and Family Welfare and Women and Child Development to the Chief Minister during a review meeting held at the State Secretariat on Thursday said that the national average of IMR in 2000 was 68 and after dropping 27 points it became 41 in 2015-16, whereas during the same period Odisha has registered a drop of 56 points.
