No force can stop local elections in Nepal: Prachanda

Addressing the district convention of Young Communist League and ANFFSU (Revolutionary), the sister organisations of his party CPN (Maoist Centre), he said, "No force can stop the local elections from taking place."

The local bodies election taking place after a gap of two decades would empower the people and distribute power from Singha Durbar government secretariat to villages, he said appealing to all to participate in the polls.

"Elections are inevitable for institutionalising the rights achieved through a long struggle of the people, he said.

"Some friends do not want the elections for fear of losing in it. The people themselves will answer those who come out to oppose elections at any pretext," said Prachanda, who is also the Chairman of the CPN (Maoist Centre).

The Prime Minister also expressed dismay over the rejection of the second constitutional amendment proposal registered at the Parliament, which he claimed, was introduced as per an understanding reached with the agitating Madhesi parties.

He said the government will hold fresh talks with the Madheshi parties tomorrow to break the deadlock.
