Bangladesh: At least 4 militants killed in Operation Eagle Hunt in Chapainawabganj

"All the four militants were killed in bomb explosion and the operation was  'successful'," said DIG Khurshed.

Four bodies of suspected militants were found after police stormed their hideout this evening wrapping up their two-day Operation "Eagle Hunt" at Shibganj upazila under Chapainawabganj district.

Khurshed Hossain, Deputy Inspector General of police of Rajshahi range, told media after end of the drive around 6:45pm this evening.

"All the four militants were killed in bomb explosion and the operation was  'successful'," said DIG Khurshed.

He said one of the dead was identified as Rafiqul Islam alias Abu, adding that identities of the three others were yet to be ascertained.

He also said that a woman and a minor girl were rescued from the militant's den with serious splinter injuries and were undergoing treatment at Chapainawabganj Sadar Hospital.

According to the hospital sources, the woman is identified as Sumaya, 21, wife of Abul Kalam Azad of Kansat, and the child as Sabita, 4, daughter of Abul Kalam Azad.

Law enforcement agencies, including Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), local police and a SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics) team resumed its second day of operations at Shibnagar Trimohoni 'militant den' this morning.
