Gold sale soars in Odisha this Dhanteras

Bhubaneswar, Oct 17: Jewellery shops across the State and the country are swelling up with customers on the occasion of 'Dhanteras'on Tuesday. Considered an auspicious day for purchasing gold and silver ornaments, most of the jewellery shops are giving away exciting offers to attract more people.

Dhanteras is considered as the most auspicious day to buy gold and other precious metals. Though the trend of buying gold on Dhanteras is not related to Odia tradition, it has gathered pace in the State in the last few years.

Goddess of wealth 'Lakshmi' is also worshipped and traditional motifs are painted on floor to welcome her.

A lot of stores offered exclusive deals to attract customers on the occasion. While some jewellers offered 100 per cent discount on making charges, a few even announced zero making charge on diamond jewellery.
