Dissatisfied Anganwadi workers barge into Collector's office in Koraput

Koraput, Oct 18: Expressing their dissatisfaction over salary hike, hundreds of Anganwadi workers barged into Koraput district Collector's office on Wednesday.

Irate over yesterday's salary hike declared by the state government, the Anganwadi workers under the banner of All Orissa Anganwadi Ladies Workers Association barged into collectorate. 

They had a face-off with the police when the latter tried to waylay them.

Demanding a salary of Rs 18,000 per month for the Anganwadi workers and Rs 9000 for the helpers, they said that the state government should reconsider its decision over their salary hike. Some of their other demand included the government employee status and pension after retirement.
