Minor girl killed, 4 critical in explosion at cracker unit in Pipili

Pipili, Oct 18: A six-year-old girl was killed while four others were critically injured after an explosion at an illegal cracker manufacturing unit at Bilipada village under Pipili block in Puri district today.

The injured have been admitted to AIIMS in Odisha capital and their health condition was stated to be critical.

According to reports, two brothers Nalu Bhoi and Bachhu Bhoi were allegedly running a cracker manufacturing unit without the license for long. Unfortunately, an explosion took place in the cracker unit at around 10 AM leaving them critically injured, a villager said.

The explosion was so severe that it killed the minor daughter of a neighbour, identified as Bulu Bhoi.

Two locals of the neighbouring Jagannathpur village, who had been to the cracker unit to buy cracker for Diwali, were also injured along with Nalu and Bachhu.

Police rushed the spot and launched a probe into the explosion.
