Thousands throng Puri Jagannath temple to pay homage to ancestors on Diwali

Puri, Oct 19: On the occasion of Diwali today, thousands of people from far-off places making a beeline to the Puri Jagannath temple since this morning and offering tributes and homage to their ancestors.

The age-old tradition is believed that observing the ritual in Puri today brings peace to the souls of the forefathers and they bless their grand children.

The ritual, Badabadua Daka, holding bunches of burning jute-stems in hand though started this morning, the real momentum of the event will be gained towards the evening, which will continue till mid-night. To ensure the smooth flow of large number of devotees into the temple, special arrangements have been made by district administration.
