2 elephants fall in trench, die in Jharsuguda

Jharsuguda, Oct 23: Two pachyderms were found dead near railway tracks in Bagadihi forest range in Jharsuguda district early this morning.

According to reports, a cub fell into a trench and died. To rescue it, a tusker went into the trench and could not come out and died. It all happened during the last night.

Forest officials were trying to bring out the bodies. After they are brought outside, post mortem would be conducted and the exact reasons behind their death would be known, said forest officials. It may be noted that an elephant had died there a week ago.
