Anganwadi workers to stage stir in Delhi on Nov 17

Bhubaneswar, Oct 23: The All Odisha Anganwadi Ladies Workers' Association has threatened to stage demonstration at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on November 17 to press their demand for salary hike and job regularisation. The Anganwadi workers too will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi to apprise him about their grievances.

Meanwhile, the agitating Anganwadi workers who called off their 40-day long strike after getting assurance from the State Government on Saturday joined duty on Monday.

The Anganwadi workers and helpers were agitating in front of the State Assembly under the banner of All Odisha Anganwadi Ladies Workers' Association.

The Aanganwadi workers have been demanding remuneration of Rs 18,000 per month and regularisation of their jobs. The agitating workers have threatened to give memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking fulfilment of their 18-charter demand.

The State Government announced a 50% hike in the remuneration of all three categories of Anganwadi workers, which would cost the state exchequer an additional annual burden of Rs 240 crore.
