Koraput minor rape survivor discharged from hospital

Koraput, Oct 27: The minor rape survivor, who had alleged that she was kidnapped and gang-raped by four armed security personnel, who were in jungle patch uniform in Lanjiguda forest in Koraput district on October 10, was discharged from hospital today.

The Class-IX girl of Sarispadar Sevashram School, who is a native of Musaguda village under Pottangi police limits in Koraput district was discharged from the Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital after 16 days. She was produced before the local Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) for recording her statement under 164 CrPC.

Even though a fortnight has passed since the barbaric incident took place, police is yet to get any clue in the case.

Koraput police even detained four minor suspects and conducted lie detection test on one of the suspects at State Forensic Science Laboratory (SFSL) in Bhubaneswar and later released them. The investigators haven't made any breakthrough even after grilling the four suspects, two of them happen to be relatives of the rape survivor.

However, DGP Dr Rajendra Prasad Shamra who visited Koraput on Thursday to review the anti-Maoist operation reiterated his earlier version that the investigation is on right direction and the case will be cracked soon.
