Bezbaroa's home preservation: Odisha CM to take final call

Sambalpur, Oct 30: Sambalpur Collector Samarth Verma today said that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will take a final call on the preservation of century-old desolate house belonging to the doyen of Assamese literature and creator of Assam's State anthem, Lakshminath Bezbaroa.

'The district administration wants to preserve the house. However, the final call will be taken by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik,' said Verma after a delegation led by Assam Cultural Affairs Minister Naba Kumar Doley and press advisor Hrishikesh Goswami met the Collector with plea to save the heritage residence.

The team visited the historical house.

The residence of the noted Assamese poet is likely to be acquired by the State Government for a bridge project.

It may be noted that Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal had on Thursday talked to his Odisha counterpart Naveen Patnaik and explained to him the historic and cultural importance of the Bezbaroa property in Sambalpur.
